Privacy & support

What you write in Fearless stays with you. The app has no accounts, collects nothing, and never sends your inventory anywhere.

Effective October 2, 2026

Privacy policy

Fearless is a private workbook for the fourth step: resentments, fears, sex conduct and harms done. Because of what people write in it, the app is built so that no one else can see it, including us.

What we collect

Nothing. Fearless has no user accounts and does not collect, store or share personal information. It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it does not connect to the internet to send or receive your data. Its fonts and everything else it needs are built into the app.

Where your entries are kept

Your entries are saved in the app's private storage on your device. We have no copy and no way to see them. If your phone backs itself up to iCloud or Google, your device may include the app's storage in that backup, the same as for other apps. That backup is handled by Apple or Google under their own privacy terms. With a passcode on, what gets backed up is encrypted.

Passcode and encryption

When you turn on a passcode, your entries are encrypted on your device with AES-256, using a key made from your passcode. The passcode itself is not saved. If you also choose Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint unlock, the passcode is kept in your device's secure keychain so your phone can unlock the app for you. Fearless never receives your face or fingerprint data; your phone checks it and only tells the app yes or no.

Because only you hold the passcode, a forgotten passcode can't be reset or recovered by anyone.

Exports and backups you create

You can export a PDF or text copy of your inventory, or save a backup file. These are made on your device, and you choose where they go through your phone's share sheet: Files, AirDrop, email, print and so on. Once a copy leaves the app, it's handled by wherever you sent it. A backup saved while your passcode is on is encrypted and needs that passcode to restore.

The web version

If you use Fearless in a web browser, your entries are stored in that browser on that computer, under the same rules: nothing is sent to us, and a passcode encrypts them. Clearing your browser's site data erases them, so save a backup first.

Deleting your information

You can delete any entry in the app. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. Copies you exported, and any device backups made by Apple or Google, are kept in those places until you remove them.

Who it's for

Fearless is meant for adults working a fourth step. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. Because the app collects nothing, any change would have to add a new feature first, and we'd say so plainly.

Help & questions

I forgot my passcode. Can you reset it?

No, and neither can anyone else. Your entries are encrypted with the passcode, and it isn't stored anywhere we can reach. That's what keeps them private.

If Face ID or fingerprint unlock is turned on, try that. If you have a backup saved before you set this passcode, you can restore from it after reinstalling the app.

How do I move my inventory to a new phone?

On the home screen, open Backup & restore and tap Save a backup. Save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone, like iCloud Drive, Google Drive or an email to yourself.

On the new phone, install Fearless, open Backup & restore, tap Restore from backup and choose the file. If your passcode was on when you saved it, you'll need that passcode.

How do I share my inventory with my sponsor?

Open Export or share, either on the home screen for all four inventories, or inside one inventory for just that one. Export PDF makes a clean copy you can print, email or AirDrop. Copy as text lets you paste it into a message.

Do I need to believe in God to use this?

No. The prayers use the word God, but the Begin steps invite you to lean on whatever power greater than yourself makes sense to you: nature, Spirit, love, or the wisdom of the group.

Can I use it on my computer and phone together?

Each device keeps its own copy, since nothing is stored online. To move your work from one to the other, save a backup on one and restore it on the other. Restoring replaces what's on the receiving device, so start from whichever has your latest entries.
